114: Guinea Pig
When I went to Peru a few years back, we stopped at this little store/restaurant before we set off onto the Inca Trail Hike. I was freaking out and squeeing over the giant pen that they had in their yard, that had a ton of guinea pigs living in it. It had all sorts of different platforms and little houses for them in there. It was mega-cute. Then I found out that they don't keep them as pets, they raise them to cook them and they are considered a delicacy there. HORRIFIED.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to pretend I didn't read your story about this one, even though I knew where it was going from the start. :( So sweet and cute - I love the eyes like buttons! My brother and I had guinea pigs when we were kids - mine was named Cinnamon. Haven't thought of her in a long time...makes me want to adopt a couple! :)
