Field Trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

It was a beautiful day on Friday, and I was feeling a bit cooped up in my apartment, so I decide to take the afternoon off and head down to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Sometimes you don't realize you needed a break and a change of scenery until you force yourself. So glad I went! Admission is free during the winter months, yet I seemed to be the only one there, left to roam in the greenhouses all by my lonesome. Much different than the summer months where it is usually brimming over with people! It's been unseasonably warm all winter, but it was still nice to walk around in a warm greenhouse with the sun shining through and see pretty flowers and greenery in bloom. It was fun to play around with my camera, taking lots of photos. I can't wait for real spring!

After walking around inside the greenhouses, I went out to the Japanese gardens where they have the huge pond with all the Koi fish swimming around. This little guy was staring at me!

Lately

Sorry for the blog silence! Working on lots of secret project stuff, that I can't talk about quite yet, and just been busy in general. Not complaining! It's definitely good to be busy with lots of work projects and I'm feeling rather grateful lately. It's been almost two years since I quit my day job to freelance full-time, and I finally feel like I have hit my stride and know what the heck I'm doing and feel good about things business-wise (not that I'm not still learning!)  So, there's that, yay!

Other things:

+ I've been enjoying the mild weather here in NYC. 50 degrees F and sunny in February? Thank you!

+ I've been cooking lots of yummy things out of Vegan Diner (which I received for Christmas). The homemade tomato soup, the hamburger buns, Brown Rice Hazelnut burgers and Mushroom Burgers have all been hits!  The chili pictured above was my own concoction in the crockpot, but it contains TVP, Chili beans, corn, diced tomatoes, a dash of cinnamon, and a bunch of Sriracha. Daiya Cheddar on top.

+ I'm finally getting treatment on my jaw/teeth for TMJ. I'm being fitted for a mouthpiece-thingy to wear to start moving my jaw slowly, so hopefully I can have some relief on my ears and jaw soon (um, my ear has been "plugged-feeling" for two months from my jaw pushing on my eardrum!)

+ I'm going to be having a sale on Fab.com starting on February 29th, that I'm SUPER excited about (and slightly terrified since I know a few people that have done it and they were completely over-whelmed with orders...) I'll have more info closer to the date, but if you aren't a member (it's a members-only site that is similar to a Living Social or Groupon kind of thing, but with artists and designer goods), the link provided should be an invite link if you were interested.

+ I broke 1,000 sales in my Etsy shop last week! So exciting! I'm shooting for 2,000 by next year...
