Doodles: Today will be Awesome

I'm all gung-ho on this new year goals and resolutions stuff!  One thing I want to do this year is concentrate on my sketches a lot more, exploring things like type, figure drawing,  and from-life drawing.  Basically, things that I used to draw a whole lot, but haven't in the past couple years!

I had a pretty low-key new year's eve this year.  Nik and I went for take-out at a new mac 'n cheese place near us (they have vegan and gluten-free options! I had mac with cheddar Daiya, spinach, and mushrooms, and it was cheesetastic.), and watched movies all night. There was a bad movie (Antichrist) and a this-is-so-amazing-go-watch-it-now movie (The Fall.) This was the first weekend we've been able to stay home and have no commitments since November, so I was pretty excited to just do NOTHING.

How was your weekend??

So anyways, hello Monday, I hope you will be awesome!

Sketchbook Doodle: Oh Brother!

Sums up how I feel about the weather this week. But, no one wants to talk about the weather, so lets draw birds instead! It's been a stressful week at work, but I have combated it with lots of painting and doodling and tea at home! Nik and I found an awesome tea place in Park Slope this past weekend, and stocked up on tea. My favorite so far is the apricot. Mmmm. We also got Cherry Blossom, Black Currant, and the old favorite Earl Grey. We also found the Superhero Supply Store, which might be the greatest store ever, with their stock of Matter and Anti-matter, etc.

Foxy Fox

I got some new markers yesterday, so I was messing around with them last night. Cute little fellow yeah? And orange is totally underrated. I'm messing around with turning this into a watercolor + marker experiment. You know, mixing things up a bit. :)

I have sore arms today! I went and got three vaccinations for my upcoming trip to Peru. Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever. Eeek. I wouldn't have gotten them if I didn't have to have a certificate saying I did, to enter the country. Not a fan. Had a prescription-happy doctor who gave me a bunch that I'm not going to fill. Okay, maybe the altitude sickness one.

I'm psyched for the weekend. Hopefully will get to check out the Tim Burton exhibit at MOMA.

Sketchbook Doodles-Mischief!

I miss figure drawing. I need to make a date with Dr. Sketchy very soon (ooo, a contortionist is the next model!)

Lots of new stuff to show you soon. And I made cookies last night and they deserve a post allllll to themselves.

Sketchbook Doodles: Sing it Sister!

So we get a few days of "nice" weather,(sun and everything!) and I start craving spring. Now my head is full of shedding the winter coat, cherry blossoms, bright green buds, fun new things at the farmer's market, warm sunshine in the park, and it being light out when I get out of work. I know, I know, delusions!

I've been a busy bee, sketching away for an upcoming show next month at Fuego 718, in Williamsburg. More details on that later. Hooray!

Sketchbook Doodles-I Wear My Sunglasses at Night

Well, I totally would if I didn't have regular glasses. Or if they were prescription sunglasses (I'm blind as a bat!)

Happy friday everyone! Helllooooo long weekend! I have big plans of things I want to accomplish this weekend, and fingers crossed that I don't pull the lazy or procrastinate card. Peace!

Sketchbook Doodles

Hey there! I'm working on some lovely valentine's day goodies, but for now, here is a "before/after" of a sketchbook doodle colored up.

Remember back in gradeschool, when the teacher made you give a valentine to everyone in your class? I was thinking back to how I used to painstakingly pick out my favorite cards for my favorite people and least favorite cards for my least favorite people...haha, so cruel. Ohh school valentines. Do they still do that in gradeschool??
