Spring-loving

This has been a really great week! Last Saturday, Nik and I decided to walk to Manhattan, over the Williamsburg Bridge, to the BUST Craftacular that was going on. It was a gorgeous day out and the perfect temperature for a long meandering walk. We met up with a few friends and took in the craft fair, got some treats from the Cinnamon Snail, and kept walking north up to Union Square. Nik and I had a reservation at Candle 79 later on for a belated b-day dinner, and we were going to be super-ambitious and continue walking north, but I wore the wrong shoes and they were getting a little sore. Still super-fun though! Candle 79 is my absolute favorite, and my tummy and I were happy with the Seitan Piccata and the PB Bliss dessert.

The next day, I took a bus ride up to Rochester, NY to go visit my family and to help out my Mom, who just had back surgery last week. It was a much-needed visit and filled with some quality family-time. I got to see both of my sisters, my parents, and my Grandma. I planted lots of flower and vegetable seeds for my Mom and made some yummy dinners. Their cat, Bam, cracks me up. He looks like a lion! Super-fluff-ball!

I rolled back into the city late last night, and there are lots of things on my to-do list today, but I just wanted to share some of my photos of my travels before I got too deep into my list.

Happy Thursday!
Michelle

Texas Photos

Cement hands
After Renegade in Austin, my Mom, Sisters, Uncle, Aunt, and I drove to my other Aunt and Uncle's home a ways north of Dallas.  I loved it so, so much there!  They are caretakers for a holy-huge-house and preserved land for a family that usually lives in Dallas, but has this really great vacation home in the middle of nowhere.  My Uncle and Aunt are such great people (and she is a super-great artist and photographer), and I loved their eclectic home decorated with such fun and different things.   It was so great to spend time with family that I never see, and even meet some I haven't met before!

I have a thing for photographing flowers, so I have a separate post with those in a bit!

Tuesday, Wednesday, break my heart

I'm back from a well-rested and happy weekend with my family. I got to see a lot of my extended family as well, with a big mega-bbq picnic on sunday. I had to leave early to go to the airport at 6, but should have stayed. I didn't even board my plane until 10:30pm! Super-delayed, I didn't get home to my apartment until almost 1am. I was mostly grumbly yesterday and if I did say or anything, it was probably in the form of "!#$!!#@%!." Ha. Much better (and rested) today. I'm going to work late tonight and then make a strawberry pie (!!!) when I get home.

Here are some doodles from this past weekend:

peaceful weekend

This is what i see when squirrels come near me. Oh, they scare me so. They don't know how to keep their distance, especially NYC squirrels. Forget ever trying to eat in a park. It's depressing how much they terrify me, really.

I'm going home to visit my family this weekend (leaving tonight actually!) and I cannot wait for some peace and quiet. This week has been crazy-hectic at work and it's been making me feel all googley-eyed and zombie-like. It will be nice to be out in the countryside. Plus, I haven't seen my family since xmas!!

No computer access there, so the shop is kinda closed up for the weekend and I won't have internet access (which is a good thing every once in awhile...)

adios!
